Getting Near to Baby is about two girls, Willa Jo and Little Sister, sitting up on the roof of Aunt Patty one summer day. Aunt Patty convinced their mother for her to take them for a couple months. Willa Jo longs to go home but doesn't know when. She meets new friends, goes to summer bible school and and doesn't care whether it is burnig hot up on the roof or not. Little sister hasn't talked since Baby died! The whole family has been falling apart since Baby died! How did Baby die? Why won't Willa Jo and Little sister get off the roof?
